Voters will head to the polls today to decide on a number of local mayoral, city council races, levies and bonds across Idaho. Today polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Among issues being decided, In Cassia County the question of changing the way the Oregon Trail Recreation District is funded. In Jerome County a super majority is needed for the construction of a new public recreation and senior center in the Eden Hazelton area. There is a supplemental levy for school district 331 in Minidoka, Cassia, Jerome and Lincoln Counties.

Voters going to the polls need to know a few things. You will need a photo ID. If you are not registered, you can do that when you arrive. To register you will need to bring proof of residency such as a utility bill with your name on it. Polls close at 8 but you can’t be closed out if you are in line. If you have a mail in ballot, bring it to city hall or the clerk’s office.

Idaho gas prices took another step in the right direction this week. According to AAA, today’s average price for a gallon of regular is $3.83, which is seven cents less than a week ago, 26 cents less than a month ago, and 53 cents cheaper than a year ago. Meanwhile, the national average currently sits at $3.42 per gallon, which is eight cents less than a week ago, 32 cents less than a month ago, and 38 cents less than a year ago.

Rescue workers described it as a freak accident. Near Coeur d’Alene a Post Falls woman died after a tree fell on her car Saturday morning. The 68 year old woman was driving when a tree fell over the lanes. There was no wind at the time rescue workers say.

Blaine county deputies arrested a 41 year old Hailey man charging hime with felony possession of Cocaine and a misdemeanor possession of Marijuana. Thomas Scarnegi was taken into custody following a traffic stop along State Highway 75 near Ketchum.

Idaho governor Brad Little has appointed District Judge Cynthia Meyer to the Idaho Supreme Court replacing Justice John Stegner who retired last month. Meyer is the Administrative Judge for the First Judicial District. Meyer was appointed in 2015 by former Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter.
