Residents in southern Idaho will be looking up today to watch the solar eclipse. According to Time and Date on the internet, the partial eclipse will begin at 11:37, Maximum at 12:30 and it ends at 1:35 pm. Do not look at the sun without eye protection. The weather forecast is calling for sunny skies.
Police say an infant in a car seat was killed in a head on collision near Kimberly yesterday morning. It happened around 3:30 along state highway 50 at milepost 1.7 when a 39 year old California female crossed the center line and collided head on with a semi-truck. Two others in the car airlifted for treatment.
Another head on crash happened in the same area yesterday morning just before 11. A car with a 31 year old man from Hansen was traveling eastbound when they collided with a Volvo truck. Both lanes of highway 50 were blocked near 3900 north for about three hours.
A Juvenile on a dirt bike was airlifted for treatment after losing control. It happened in Gooding around 7:30 last night on 3400 south.
Idaho county election offices are starting to mail absentee ballots ahead of the May 21 Idaho primary election. Voters who requested an absentee ballot should receive it in the mail within a week. The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the May primary is 5 p.m Wednesday. Voters can request absentee ballots at VoteIdaho.gov.
Three Juveniles were involved in a high speed chase Saturday night. It started in Wendell and ended in Jerome County. Gooding officials were attempting to locate three battery suspects in Wendell, when they were located they fled in a vehicle leading to the chase. Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the chase.
Jury selection for the trial of murder Suspect Chad Daybell is over. 57 potential jurors have been named. Today the prosecution and the defense will begin striking 39 jurors from the pool of 57 potential individuals until 18 jurors are selected. The entire trial is expected to last up to 10 weeks and hopefully wrap up by June 15th. In the end, Daybell could be sentenced to death.
