Local Sports 2/13/24


The great basin 7 all conference girls basketball teams have been announced.  CJ Latta a senior from Minico is the player of the year.  The co-coaches o the year are Anna Bateman from Minico and Brent keener from Mountain Home.   


If you are interested in being an official for baseball and softball games, the District 4 commission is looking for you.  This Thursday you are invited to attend an umpire state rules meeting at Canyon Ridge High School.


District boys basketball tournaments are on.  The games kicked off yesterday.  Buhl downed Kimberly 66 to 63.  The Indians move on to the semi-finals tomorrow to square off with top-seeded Filer. Tip-off from the College of Southern Idaho is set for 7:30.  The Bulldogs will play in a loser-out game against Gooding at the College of Southern Idaho. Tip-off set for 6:00.


Elsewhere Valley outlasted Glenns Ferry 61 to 48.  Valley moves on to the semi-finals and will host Lighthouse Christian on tomorrow at 7:30.  Glenns Ferry will travel and take on Raft River tomorrow in a loser-out game at 6:00.


Lighthouse defeated Raft River 62 to 52.  Carey downed Castleford 40 to 35.  Carey will play a semifinal game with Oakley tomorrow.  Castleford hosts Murtaugh in a looser out game. 


Filer defeated Gooding 63 to 44.  The wildcats play in a semi final game tomorrow as they play Buhl at CSI – 7:30pm. 


Looking at today’s schedule for the High School varsity basketball games where for the Boys, the district tournament is underway.  Richfield travels to Camas County.  Hagerman goes to Dietrich.  Wendell and Declo will meet at Valley. 


For the girls, state games are set to begin this week on Thursday.
